Carolina Wildlife Conservation Center (CWCC), Charlotte’s very own wildlife rehabilitation center, is hosting a virtual baby shower starting Monday, April 14. Currently caring for over 100 wild animals, Carolina Wildlife Conservation Center takes in injured, orphaned and sick wildlife and returns them back to the wild. As the weather starts to warm, CWCC is looking to garner support to care for the many injured and orphaned wild animals that will come into their care in the coming months.
Since opening in 2019, CWCC has rescued over 10,000 wild animals from across the state of North Carolina. CWCC will support over 1,000 baby animals in our area in 2025 alone. A large number of those animals are orphaned or injured baby squirrels, fox, skunks, raccoons, bats, beavers, rabbits and more that will come into their care in the coming weeks as animals in our community begin give birth and care for their young.
“Many people call CWCC each day after finding a wild animal and simply not knowing what to do,” says Morgan Rafael, Executive Director of the Carolina Wildlife Conservation Center. “Our team provides clear, easy-to-follow instructions on what to do when you find an orphaned or injured baby animal—and how to safely bring them to our Wildlife Hospital for rehabilitation care.”

The Carolina Wildlife Conservation Center mission is to rescue, rehabilitate and release injured, orphaned and ill wildlife, while educating humans on how to live symbiotically with our backyard wildlife. In addition to caring for these animals at their state-of-the-art facility, CWCC aids Charlotte residents who have found injured and orphaned wildlife via phone calls and text messages. This lifesaving service is utilized by members of our community more than 50 times per day.
The Virtual Baby Shower is designed to spread the mission of CWCC and gain support in caring for many NC wildlife babies. Specialized formula, food, and medications are all included in the care and rehabilitation of wild animals.
Currently, CWCC is 5 red fox kits, 50 Virginia Opossums, 20 eastern cottontailrabbits and 30 eastern box turtles and many more.
